HTC’s president Jason Mackenzie has confirmed the rumours that HTC will in fact be jumping over the Android 4.2.2 update for its flagship HTC One smartphone and going straight to the latest version of the Jelly Bean OS, Android 4.3.
Mackenzie stated on his Twitter account:
“Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well.”
Loosely translated into grown-up speak this reads:
“We have been getting lots of questions regarding the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release for the HTC One”
“We are working hard to release the 4.3 update (the software needs certification) across all US and Canadian SKU’s before the end of September.”
This is not a joke tweet; the spelling and text speak really did come from the President of a high profile company, but either way what this means is HTC is finalising the next update and its will be bringing Android 4.3 to its premier handset on September 29th.
Now for us folks in the UK and Europe, we still have little word on when the update will land for us but seeing as the Jelly Bean 4.3 OS is ready for similar language devices we can’t expect much of a delay for the HTC One’s update to land on our shores.
It’s a pretty good move by HTC to jump past the slow update of Android 4.2.2 and to get straight on with the latest iteration of the software and we can’t wait to get our hands on Google’s latest OS on one of the best smartphones of the year.
