Sony has announced another one of its “scheduled maintenance” periods on the PlayStation Network for today,Wednesday September 25th, that will once again see the PSN down for gamers for over 6 hours.
The service will be out from 18:15pm GMT to 00:15am on Thursday September 26th, so a whopping 6 hours.
The news was broken via the Community PlayStation forums where user Tempest_Fire, who is a Digital Platforms Community Manager at Sony, states:
“Hi everyone,
“We wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that there is a planned maintenance for PlayStation Network scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th from 10:15/9:15AM to 4:15/3:15PM Pacific Time (12:15 PM to 6:15 PM Eastern). To clarify, this is a 6 hour maintenance.
“If you’ve signed onto PSN over the past few days, you’ll still be able to play online and access apps during this period, but you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management as these services will be unavailable. Be sure to sign in now if you wish to access the Network during this maintenance window.
“Thanks for your patience during this maintenance timeframe, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
As per usual this means there will be a disruption to the PSN service that will see gamers who have not accessed their PSN accounts within the past few days (48 hours generally) unable to get on to the network. They may also not be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management services.
So if you want to game later on today you will need to make sure you are online and signed in to your PSN account now so that you can access the PSN throughout the maintenance period
Sony regularly does PlayStation Network updates, most of which rarely fit within the proposed outage length of time, so if you are experiencing any issues after the 6 hours then let us know in the comments below.
