Motorola is headed in a new direction with its smartphone range and the first sign of that was the ultra-customisable and intelligent Moto X. We’re hearing that another, similarly designed phone is due along shortly but will carry a much more wallet-friendly price tag – the Motorola Moto G.
In recent weeks we’ve heard whispers of the Moto G get louder, culminating in a leaked promotion which reveals UK retailer Phones 4U’s plans to sell the phone for just £135 outright.
The Google-owned company has scheduled a press event for November 13th in various countries including the UK, so it looks certain that, unlike the US-only Moto X, we’ll be able to buy Motorola’s newest smartphone before the year is out.
Various leaks have suggested that the Moto G will rock a distinctly mid-range set of specifications, though for the suggested price it seems a good deal to us. The Moto G is apparently rocking a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
To put a face to a name, the formidable @Evleaks recently leaked what appears to be an official press shot of the phone in four interesting colours, revealing that the Moto G will carry a similar design to its bigger brother, the Moto X. With a sloping back, curved corners and an overall rounded look, the Moto G looks to be one of the better designed ‘affordable’ smartphones we’ve seen.
Colours shown are white, blue, turquoise and pink, with the turquoise model rocking a bright yellow flare around the rear camera – the colour scheme looks very much like 4G network EE’s, to us.
The phones shown in the leaked image bear Verizon Wireless branding so the phone is definitely heading to the States as well, though we’re not yet sure which UK networks will stock it. We’ll find out for sure on the 13th.
