HTC One with Dual SIM and microSD card slot announced

We at the Gadget Helpline love the HTC One – we think it’s one of the best handsets of the year and definitely the leading handset from HTC, but one thing we would change is the lack of expandable storage.

Well HTC has catered to our needs with a new version of the HTC One that is designed for dual SIM use. This means that the HTC One Dual SIM will have a removable back panel in order to house two SIMs and because of this, HTC has also added in a microSD card slot that will allow users to add up to an extra 64GB of storage space to the popular phone.

Like the original HTC One, the dual SIM variant will have an aluminium body but unlike its predecessor, the handset won’t be a unibody design, but will instead have a removable back plate that gives access to the SIM and microSD trays.

Other than the dual SIM and microSD card slots, the new HTC One will have all the functions of the previous HTC One. This includes the dual front-facing BoomSound speakers, a 4.7-inch full 1920 x 1080 screen (at 468ppi), a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, NFC,a 2300mAh battery, and a 4MP UltraPixel rear camera.

However, the dual SIM capabilities of the HTC One comes at a price, as the connectivity capabilities changes, with each of the 2 SIM cards. The first SIM card will be able to get up to HSDPA connection speeds, but the second SIM card is limited to EDGE connectivity – Neither does 4G, as the original HTC One does.

HTC hasn’t released any pricing or release information just yet, but the device will be landing in Europe in the next few months.
