Stock of the Xbox One is running low at many retailers around the UK as we head into the festive season, so we’ve no doubt there will be more than a few desperate parents out there trying to hunt down one as a gift in time for the 25th. But how many would be willing to shell out £6,000 for a console, we wonder.
We’ve seen people paying thousands for an Xbox One on eBay already out of desperation, but now Harrods of London has taken things a step further by selling a £6,000 Xbox One. This isn’t just any old Xbox One, however, and as you might expect from an upmarket retailer such as Harrods, it’s a little bit special. You see, this 6K Xbox is actually 24K – that’s 24 carat gold!
That’s right folks. If that glossy black plastic finish just doesn’t cut it for you, there’s an exclusive 24k gold-plated console for sale at London’s most prestigious department store. Unlike the standard console, there’s no mix of glossy and matte here, just all-round shiny gold, and boy does it look swanky.
Harrods has a history of selling exclusive, blinged-out gadgets and often has diamond-encrusted iPhones, gold-plated iPads and other very expensive versions of standard consumer tech for sale.
We’re not sure just how many wealthy gamers out there are likely to drop such a wedge of cash on this rare beast, but it’s certainly one way of getting an Xbox One in time for Christmas. However, there’s precisely one of these gold consoles on sale in Harrods so if you have a fixation on shiny, expensive things then you’ll need to act fast.
