We had a feeling Samsung had something big in store for us at this year’s CES, and the Korean manufacturer has certainly delivered. As was rumoured and then leaked just earlier today, the new Galaxy Note Pro has been ousted officially.
At 12.2-inches and sporting a detachable stylus, the Galaxy Note Pro is yet another addition to the company’s popular large-screen Android range and is the largest yet. The 12.2-inch display is a Full HD panel, sporting a high 2,560 x 1,200 resolution, flanked by a row of touch and press buttons below and a 2-megapixel front camera above.
Flip the tablet over and you’ll find an 8 megapixel rear camera – the standard you’d expect nowadays from a high-end tablet. Inside there’s plenty of power courtesy of a whopping 3GB of RAM and one of a range of processors, all at the top-end – Samsung’s own Exynos 5 chip for the Wi-Fi and 3G versions and Qualcomm’s excellent Snapdragon 800 for the 4G variant.
As above, there are numerous versions of the Galaxy Note Pro ready to launch, varying from 32GB and 64GB memory options to Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G options for each. Samsung has moved across the design of the Galaxy Note 3, including the faux-leather back with stitched edging.
Rounding up an impressive specification sheet is Google’s latest version of Android, 4.4 ‘KitKat’. As we all know Samsung likes to do, the version of Android is adorned with the company’s own TouchWiz UI and a host of productivity apps to suit the S Pen stylus, including Action Memo and others.
With a 12.2-inch display, the Galaxy Note Pro is always going to be a large device but Samsung has managed to keep it quite slim at 7.95mm thick. On the downside, the device weighs a hefty 750g – a good couple hundred grams heavier than Apple’s latest iPad Air.
Samsung is yet to unveil pricing and availability for the Galaxy Note Pro, though we expect to hear news shortly.
