Android 4.4 KitKat-sporting Moto G coming to Vodafone UK

Tech website Pocket-Lint has just been tipped off by Vodafone that the UK network will be launching the Moto G smartphone in the coming weeks, but unlike the other releases this version of the handset will be sporting the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat.

Motorola had already promised that the Moto G will be stocked up with Android KitKat in January, but these announcements usually mean that the updates are released and then take a few weeks to land on consumers’ phones.

The folks in the US already have the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update available for the Moto X so the port across to Moto’s cheaper phone should take less time, but Motorola is looking set to announce the update at an incoming Motorola event on January 14th.

With Motorola now being owned by Google, the company can expect to get updates to its products much earlier than most other Android supporting devices.

When Motorola does announce the update we are also expecting the company to reveal its next flagship Android device in the form of the long-rumoured Moto X for the UK.

All we do know now is that Vodafone will be stocking a KitKat version of the Moto G, and that Motorola has something to talk about on the January 14th.
