When the Xbox One launched in November of last year, the only official accessory you could buy was another controller – a sure sign of a rushed launch. Microsoft is now catching up and has just launched an official stereo headset and adapter for third party headsets yesterday, but it seems there’s more on the way.
An official Xbox One Media Remote popped up on Amazon recently, only for the listing to be removed shortly after. Thanks to the magic of Google caching, the page can still be viewed here, showing the new and as yet unannounced accessory in all its glory.
The listing suggests that the little black remote will retail at $24.99 in Canada, which will likely equate to £20-£25/$20-25 in the UK and US respectively – unfortunately prices never really change to reflect the exchange rate, otherwise we’d be getting a bargain here in the UK. It’s a dinky little device with buttons for navigation, select, volume, play/pause, rewind/fast forward and also the Xbox, Menu and Multitasking buttons from the Xbox One controller itself. You could of course just use the console’s controller to do everything the remote does, but the idea is to have something smaller and easier to use when watching TV or movies.

When the Xbox 360 launched there was a very long media remote available at the time which was soon replaced for a smaller, more compact model. Subsequently the original became highly sought-after, but it looks as though the small and compact remote type is here to stay for Xbox. What do you think of the new design?
