Call of Duty 2014 Image Revealed

I’m trying to work out how many iterations of the COD (Call of Duty) franchise we have had, and although it feels like it every time I hear another is being made, I’m fairly sure it’s not 2014. It all gets a bit confusing after number four when they dropped the conventional method of naming games, and decided to actually name their games.  I digress.

Sledgehammer recently attended the Game Developers Conference 2014 (there’s that number again), aptly named Quest for Quality: Maximizing the Relationship between Creative and Production in San Francisco, and managed to reveal an image showing in-game character models for the next Call of Duty.

Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty, which will release this fall, has been in development for nearly three years as part of the new development cycle for the series, yes there will now be three companies working on the games. It will be released on the next-gen consoles first according to publisher Activision. Supposedly this picture is actual game characters, it will interesting to see if the graphics actually look this detailed.

Sledgehammer came about when two of the developers, Game development legend Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, of the original Dead Space decided they wanted to leave EA and go their own way, they felt that the one thing COD was missing was a third person version so they pitched it to Activision. This was back before 2011; the idea was chucked to the back burner when West and Zampella were fired from the Modern Warfare 3 team and with them took half to production crew. Sledgehammer stepped in to fill the gap. Whether this means we are looking at the first third person shooter in the series or if that idea has been scrapped all together time will tell.

It’s ten there are ten not including handheld and mobile versions.
