If you’re an Xbox One owner with a Gold Live subscription then today is your lucky day, as the new Games With Gold service for Xbox One is giving away two Xbox One games per month absolutely free, with Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood the first two games available.
You’ll need a full and active Xbox Live Gold membership, then just head over to the store pages for both games and click the ‘free with gold’ button. The service is still going to continue for Xbox 360, and as a bonus 3 games are up for grabs on the 360 this month, Dark Souls, Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.

Both Xbox One games are being made available for free at the same time, whereas (as you may be aware) the free games for the 360 are usually unlocked once per two weeks. We don’t yet know whether the Xbox One games will stagger like this in future, or whether they will just double up the releases for the foreseeable future.
On top of the Games With Gold launch, the Xbox One also has been updated recently, with new features such as a UK version of OneGuide, support for external hard drives and gets the system ready for Microsoft’s Brazil Now and Destination Brazil World Cup companion apps – both are available now.
These world cup apps provide Xbox One users with a companion to the most popular sporting event worldwide, and features polls, statistics and score updates. Also the app will send you notifications of any new changes and scores.
Although you don’t need a Gold membership to enjoy the world cup app coverage, Microsoft states that “Xbox Live Gold membership is not required, but fans will need advanced TV hardware, broadband internet, and a subscription from an affiliated service provider.”
