Amazon France has listed a hardware pack consisting of both PS4 and PS Vita, dubbed the Ultimate Player Edition.
The next gen/handheld PlayStation combo has been mentioned only in passing by Sony back around the launch of the PS4 and it still had not yet been confirmed officially by the consoles’ maker. The PS4 included is the standard 500GB model and the PS Vita is a Slim Wi-Fi enabled model and these will be bundled with a DualShock 4 controller.
Amazon may have leaked the product a little earlier than planned, ahead of Sony’s appearance at the E3 expo next week and has even suggested an asking price for the Ultimate Player Edition of €579.99 (little over £471 GBP) – strangely this offers no actual saving over buying the two items separately but we expect retailer incentives may follow to sweeten the deal.
Sony’s intention has always been to unite the PlayStation brand and offer an enhanced gaming experience for owners of both platforms with the PS4 and PS Vita being compatible with one another since the start.
Adding the second touch and motion enabled display takes a leaf out of the Nintendo play book and the PS Vita can already be used for remote play on games such as Knack and can be used to show additional in-game content, we’ll be interested to know if the existence of the Ultimate Player Edition will see some new cross-over features being announced next week.
Sony is due to hit the stage at the E3 event on Monday 9th June at 6pm (UK) to announce its intentions for the coming year in the life of the PlayStation and the exciting new games and entertainment we can expect for the PS4 and PS Vita.
