Sony’s Playstation 4 is set to be the console which packs the most exclusives, as E3 2014 revealed. Not the least of these exclusives is Uncharted 4, the next installment in the immensely successful Uncharted series, which features high standards of storytelling plus unique run-jump-shoot gameplay.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was trailered during Sony’s press conference at E3 2014, as well as a preview for Playstation TV, around 4am in fact, not too much fun for those of us in the UK who stayed up just to watch it. The trailer showed what might just be the grittiest adventure yet from fan favourite fortune finder Nathan Drake.
Two trailers have emerged, one being the aforementioned E3 trailer, and also another teaser shown at a PS4 event.
Both trailers set up the game pretty well, the E3 trailer making it clear that Drake is older, wiser, and has been ‘out of the game’ for a while, and the teaser previewing the inner monologue of the next villain, swearing revenge, presumably on Drake, for leaving him ‘buried alive’ in some forgotten corner of the world.
With regards to the technology behind the game and what kind of improvement in graphics we might expect for the new console generation, Naughty Dogg’s top staff have promised that “Graphically you’re going to see a big jump”. Hopefully this is true, as Uncharted’s strong point on the PS3 was an abundance of detail, making the game feel more like a blockbuster movie than just another action shooter.
As for a release, Uncharted 4 is expected to drop in 2015, with Drake’s VO Nolan North hinting that the game may well be the last in the series, although we must stress that this was unconfirmed.
Any new Uncharted news will be posted here when it gets out, until then, keep your eyes peeled for more information. In the meantime, why not browse our other E3 coverage or browse some of the other trailers shown at E3?
