Leaks of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 have begun appearing which suggest its release is on the horizon… the spec and information was first spotted by Phone Arena on China’s TENAA site. TENAA do publish a rather detailed report – sighting dimensions and some of the devices features. Most interestingly the screen size of the Mega seems to have reduced slightly, by no means is it small but it does make the device slightly less like a Sandwich Toaster in size which in our books is great news.
The screen is now 5.98inches in size rather than the 6.3 inches that the original Mega avowed, the screen will utilise a 1280 x 720 resolution like its predecessor. Although the screen is slightly smaller the device is no less ‘mega’ with a quad-core CPU running at 1.2GHz – we imagine this will be a 64-bit Snapdragon processor but we have yet to know for certain; we can but speculate. This will all be backed by 2GB of RAM.

The Samsung Mega 2 will run Android Kitkat 4.4 (which only need half a GB of RAM to run), so this handset should be a fairly quick device to use. It will also have plenty of space for all of your photos and other data that can be stored on the 8GB internal memory. Memory is expandable via Micro SD up to 64GB giving you loads of space for photos movies and music.
In addition to the large screen and the potential for a decent CPU and operating speed you can expect to see clearly through the two cameras on the device. The rear facing camera will be 13 megapixels with a 5 mega pixel camera on the front; perfect for taking pictures of your own face whilst you do your best impression of a duck.
This is all we know for certain but we would be surprised if the Phablet does not have a heart rate monitor, finger print scanner and the other fancy features we have become accustomed to. Combine this with Samsung’s history of making great phones and the spec list we already have access to, it all sounds pretty good… nothing too exciting but certainly enough to give the Sony Xperia T2 a run for its money. However, the question remains, do we really need another sandwich toaster of a phone that has so fondly been coined as a phablet?
