Alpha Mobile are a virtual network piggy-backing on Vodafone UK. Currently they are offering unlimited abroad calls for £30 per month on a pre-pay SIM card.
This could be brilliant for anyone who has a lot of family abroad, or for a business who calls abroad frequently, but £30 per month could work out pretty costly if you don’t actually make that many calls. Your £30 will however get you unlimited calls to more than 75 countries including landline calls to almost all of them and mobile calls to Australia, Canada, China, India, the US and Pakistan. You can check out the full list of countries on Alpha Mobile’s website.
The other charges on the network are mostly reasonable – Local rates are good, though not amazingly cheap. Texts cost 10p, data costs 5p per MB and checking your voicemail costs 10p. However, be wary if you’re thinking of using data roaming abroad, as you’ll pay a wallet-combusting £16.99 per MB.
All in all it sounds like this could be well worth looking into if you call abroad quite a lot, but just remember to look out as you can get some reasonably cheap international packages from other network providers that may suit you better.
