Amazon Appstore Offers “Test Drive” on Selected Games & Software Tools in U.S

Android gadget owners in the United States will now be able to try out software from the generously stocked Amazon Appstore free of charge for a limited time (half an hour of usage) before committing to buy. Mobile users should find a notification waiting for them from today to update the store and a collection of “Test Drive” apps are also listed in a “Top 100 Most Engaging Apps” section available to view through the Amazon App Store online through your desktop computer.

Using the virtually versatile Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (or EC2) apps can be run without the usually required full installation but just as if they had been fully downloaded you will be able to play your chosen game or use a software tool on your Android device for the first time. Updating to version 2.6.53 of the Amazon Appstore will allow you to use the Test Drive feature on a number of selected apps, which will be indicated on their own dedicated profile.

The mobile version of the service is currently in Beta form and will be U.S based only for the time being, but to be fair it doesn’t look like we here in the U.K are missing too much at the moment, with some of the “top” listed Test Drive apps being Bubble Popper, Tiny Flashlight + LED and desktop classics Solitaire and Freecell.
