In the light of Amazon Kindle Fire range announcement yesterday and today’s UK stocking and pricing information of the Fire HD and original Kindle Fire tablet devices, Amazon has also announced that it will be making a cool 2,000 new permanent jobs in the UK.
The company will be opening three new ‘fulfilment centres’ across the country to help support the new products and where the online retailer can package and send your goods from.
The new Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire (original) and other Kindle ranges of eReaders have been a major business for the online retailer, so the fulfilment centres will be used to help distribute the new products as well as Amazon’s standard website sales.
In a statement, Christopher North, MD of Amazon UK said:
“We have created thousands of jobs in the UK over the last few years and are delighted to announce that we plan to create thousands more in the next 24 months,” said Christopher North, MD of Amazon UK.
“Our recruitment team has been exceptionally busy recently hiring hundreds of employees at the Hemel Hempstead fulfilment centre and they will certainly be busy over the next couple of years as we continue to expand to provide customers with the best possible experience.”
With big name companies such as BlackBerry and Sony both recently pulling out major job cuts and losses across the UK and Europe, it’s very good to see an online and tech company expanding its operations and opening so many job roles across the UK.
