Android 4.0 Update for Original Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) is Coming this Week

We have some great news for owners of the original ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 – the long-awaited update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now seeding to devices!

The first region to get the update will be Taiwan, with other countries to follow. There had been recent rumours that the update would be pushed back until March or even April, but ASUS’ UK team has quelled that rumour via its Facebook page.

“A quick refresher on the TF101 ICS Update that you are all so patiently waiting for. Our engineers are working hard on getting this ready for you as soon as possible and are still aiming for a February release. As always as soon as we hear any further news or a definitive date we will let you know.

As we all know, there’s not a great deal of February left, so it’s looking likely that the update will touch down in the UK within the next week – provided ASUS’ engineers can pull it out of the bag, of course.

ASUS’ original Transformer tablet has enjoyed huge success, becoming by far one of the most popular tablets from the Honeycomb era. Of course, it’s now been superseded by the awesome Transformer Prime, but it’s good to see ASUS still providing support and updates for older products.

Are you a TF101 owner eager to get your teeth into Ice Cream Sandwich?
