Angry Birds hits Chrome Webstore

  • by

Angry Birds developer Rovio Mobile has gotten their gaming fingers into even more pies it seems, announcing that the popular bird-flinging game will be coming to the Google Chrome webstore.

At the second keynote at the Google I/O conference yesterday, CEO of Rovio Mobile Peter Vesterbacka took to the stage in a rather fetching red Angry Birds sweater to confirm that the game will be available in the Google Chrome Webstore shortly.

The webapp can be downloaded directly to your PC and saved for offline play. It uses WebGL graphics for smooth gameplay and HD graphics, which even looked impressive when blown up on the big screen during the Google keynote yesterday. Vesterbacka did confirm that your browser requires hardware acceleration for HD graphics, though if it doesn’t, the game will automatically fall back to using CSS canvas elements instead.

The game itself is free, it includes the Mighty Eagle in-app purchase for 99c, and you can download it now along with the Chrome webstore here.
