Those Angry Birds are at it again! Blasting out of their own mobile game and into popular culture, our furious feathered friends are now causing havoc on the cover of classic American funny mag – MAD!
Proving to be the cultural phenomenon that the games makers Rovio Mobile has promised, the Angry Birds join the likes of fellow Gadget Helpline namedrop Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, as well as pop superstars such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber who have recently graced (or disgraced) the pages of the popular magazine which has been a US institution since 1952.
The upcoming October cover of MAD features the aggrieved avians launching on aerial assault on setting very familiar to fans of the mobile gaming sensation, but in this one-of-a-kind scenario the battleground is shaped as the face of MAD mascot Alfred E. Neuman – the iconic cheeky character who has featured predominantly on the mag’s covers since the very beginning.
With Angry Birds going MAD this marks yet another massive step towards global recognition for the popular franchise which, as Rovio guaranteed, is making its self known as a worthy worldwide brand. Having recently launched a promotional charge on China and has a range of merchandise available with dedicated Angry Bird stores and a movie on the horizon.
Now boasting over 300-million Angry Birds downloads across Android and Apple platforms on every gadget from phones, tablets, desktop PCs and handheld consoles – as well as impending world domination – success is soaring like a Mighty Eagle!
