Following our earlier news that Angry Birds spin-off Bad Piggies has just gotten itself an update featuring our feathery friends, Rovio has released a trailer for its new Angry Birds animated web series and a website is now live.
It’s been almost 11 months since Rovio Head of Animation Nick Dorra revealed that a new cartoon series will run as 52 two-and-a-half-to-three minute episodes based on the popular app game and its avian heroes, and now Angry Birds Toons has been officially announced on the app maker’s blog.
Rovio reveals that Angry Birds Toons will provide answers to questions such as “What makes Bomb Bird so angry? Why is the King Pig the King Pig? And are those mischievous piggies ever going to get hold of the eggs?” From the trailer launched today we can see that the series appears to capture the essence of the game with an animation style and pace akin to the classic Loony Tunes short cartoons.
The first episodes in this 2D animated show will be available on March 16th and 17th, with further episodes hatching weekly. There’s still no movement on the Angry Birds Movie which is set to be produced in CGI and is rumoured for release this year.
