Over time Apple has improved the iPhone’s camera to the impressive 8-megapixel shooter on the iPhone 4S today, but it’s still missing something that other phones offer, and that’s any sort of photo editing. Thankfully developers are on hand to provide photo editing in the form of apps, such as Photo Ace.
PhotoAce is a fantastic new app that allows you to edit your favourite photos on your Apple iOS device. With PhotoAce you can simply take a photo or select a pre-existing image from your Photo Roll and you’ll gain access to a powerful picture editor in the palm of your hand.
We used the Photo Ace app on our Apple iPad to offer a closer inspection of the features, although the app is designed in the iPhone’s native resolution but thanks to the iPad’s resize option it will fit the tablet’s larger screen.
PhotoAce gives users access to a host of photo editing options including the ability to crop, rotate and flip your photos, plus you can achieve that artistic look with a number of colour alterations which can be added with the adjustable brush to give you complete control over the image.
With a swipe of your fingers you can quickly change the image from black and white to colour and add tints to the image from a sliding rainbow of colours, and if you don’t like the changes or make a mistake you can use the undo button and give it another go.
You can also highlight areas to make them stand out from the rest of the photo, so if you wanted to make a black and white image stand out more with a splash of colour, just use the brush tool to restore the colour to a certain area.
With the zoom option you can navigate around the image and zoom in to get to the finer points of the photo you are editing, and using PhotoAce’s innovative air-brush tool you can customise your photos, remove blemishes or even add a rouge effect.
PhotoAce operates on a session mode so if you want to take a break from editing a picture you can save your current session and then just pick up your editing from where you left it at a later date.
Once you are done editing the photo you can use the menu to immediately upload the image to your Facebook page and share it with friends.
Photo Ace can be downloaded from the iTunes App store for 69p now and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later to run. The App is 5.8 MB in size.
