Apple to ban 8 Samsung Galaxy S2 variant Smartphone’s in the US

On Friday Apple won the longstanding legal case between itself and Samsung regarding patent infringements and the company were awarded a whopping $1.049 billion ( to be exact it was $1,049,343,540)in damages and now Apple are requesting that a range of Samsung Smartphone’s are to be taken off of Sale in the US.

The list of 8 smartphones was compiled by Apple after the ruling and these are all devices that Apple state infringe on the patents that Apple had in place. Basically the ban surrounds the Samsung Galaxy S2 and so Apple seeks to band all versions including network specific handsets from sale in the US.

Those devices are:

  • Galaxy S 4G
  • Galaxy S2 (AT&T)
  • Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket)
  • Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
  • Galaxy S2 Epic 4G
  • Galaxy S Showcase
  • Droid Charge
  • Galaxy Prevail

During the trail Apple were actually gunning to get a whopping 28 handsets banned in the US but has now settled on just the Samsung Galaxy S2 variant’s on-sale in the US.

The ban is not official as Apple will have to prove the continued sale of these devices inflicts “irreparable harm” on the corporation in order for a court to impose a ban, so this means the war between the company is far from over.

In recent months and due to the trial Apple successfully had the Samsung Galaxy  Tab 10.1 banned in the US only for the ban to be lifted by U.S. District judge Lucy Koh during the trial after a jury found it didn’t infringe on trade dress claims for the iPad 3.

There will be more news on whether the Galaxy S2 range is banned in the coming weeks.
