Apple is set to launch its next iPhone handset(s) very soon – in fact the next Apple event is scheduled for September and that’s the date when we should get our first glimpse of the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. But the next question will be when will they actually go on sale?
Twitter tech leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) has shed some light on the subject and after many correct predictions over the years may have the final answer, pegging down an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus pre-order date for Friday the 9th of September – a date which he claims to be confirmed.
Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there. https://t.co/gwoPzIM1dI

The leaker also seemed to confirm the codenames for both new handsets to be ‘Sonora’ and ‘Dos Palos’ – which are names of Californian counties. The Apple event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
The iPhone 7 is set to be coming with a 4.7-inch display with the iPhone Plus 7 featuring 5.5-inch display and both will come preloaded with the new iOS 10 software. A new version of Apple’s own A10 processor is expected as is a 12-megapixel main camera – you may recall that bulbous camera lens on the back, but overall the handset is expected to feature a thinner form factor thanks to absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack (this is still is question).
Force Touch sensor may be replacing the physical Home button and there are re-positioned antenna bands and smart connectors for modular add-ons seen in a number of the artists interpretations floating about the web as launch day looms.
In other iPhone news, it was reported that Apple has sold it’s billionth iPhone this week after 9 years. This since the original was released in 2007 and ten iterations of the handset have subsequently become available over the years.
