Apple has finally got round to releasing new versions of its portable office suite, iWork, for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The three iWork apps; Pages, Numbers and Keynote have all been available on the iPad since the tablet’s debut in April.
Retailing for a whopping £5.99 each, the three apps are now certified to run on devices which have iOS 4+, so that includes iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and third and fourth-generation iPod touch.
Pages is, of course, Apple’s word processor, while Numbers and Keynote handle spreadsheets and presentations respectively.
The apps import and export documents from iWork for Mac as well as from Microsoft, and have the ability to print via Airprint. However, there are only 18 printers that can currently achieve this, so be sure to check this out before buying.
The apps sport improved document management tools which allow users to organise folders into folders, and a new navigation feature dubbed by Apple as “Smart Zoom”.
Apple’s iWork apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad can be purchased through the App Store. iPad users who already have one or more of the three apps can upgrade to the iPhone-able versions free of charge.
It’s great to see Apple porting its software onto mobile devices, considering the mobile version of Microsoft’s Office suite is a big pull for those looking to get a Windows Phone 7 handset.
The ability to edit office-type documents right from your phone is pretty impressive in and of itself, and we imagine it could come in handy in emergency situations.
