While most will think it’s a given, the official name for Apple’s forthcoming sixth generation iPhone will be the iPhone 5.
Just how has this name been confirmed with mere hours until Apple’s official launch in San Francisco? A blunder by their website team has led to the product name popping up in search results on the Apple website.
As reported by 9to5mac, a search for ‘iPhone 5’ on the Apple website brings up several links to the product, all of which currently don’t work, but will no doubt go live later today as soon as the phone has been made official by CEO Tim Cook and co.
Apple looks to have readied several pages in anticipation for the new phone, including an iPhone 5 tips page, some legal documents and the holy grail; the ‘Apple Introduces iPhone 5’ press release.
After the Cupertino Company broke tradition and named the third generation iPad ‘the new iPad’ instead of the iPad 3, we couldn’t decide whether Apple would go with ‘the new iPhone’ or just ‘iPhone 5’ – and now we know.
So now we know the name of the phone, what will it feature? We’ve got a full roundup of the rumours and what we’re expecting right here for you.
UPDATE: Further searches have also revealed Apple has plans to reveal new iPod Nano and iPod Touch models, along with a revamped iTunes to go with them. Proof found in the images below!
