Asus delay the Eee Pad Slider tablet

  • by

Asus has announced that the Eee Pad Slider Android tablet device will be delayed in getting to UK shelves. The release date has been pushed back from the expected August release to “autumn”.

The announcement has just been made via Asus’ Official Facebook page and reads: “Eee Pad Slider will be coming to the UK this autumn. We’ll confirm dates and pricing later in July. In the meantime we’re running a couple of surveys to understand what is important for our customers. We’d love to hear your input. Surveys will follow in a minute or two.”

Asus first announced the Eee Pad Slider back in January of this year at the CES show, as a part of the Eee Pad tablet family. It was announced alongside the now available (and very successful) Eee Pad Transformer, the Eee Slate EP121 and the Eee Pad MeMO.

We were expecting to see the Slider alongside the Transformer when it was released in the UK this April but when the release date came around, only the Transformer was to be found on shelves. Rumours started springing up about the slider mechanism on the Eee Pad Slider – perhaps Asus were having some trouble getting it to slide smoothly?

The Eee Pad Slider bridges the gap between tablet and PC with a slide-out full netbook-sized keyboard hiding underneath the 10.1-inch screen. When released it will run on the tablet-specific Android Honeycomb OS and pack in 32GB of flash storage for movies, music, e-books and apps. A 5 megapixel camera will adorn the rear of the case, with a 1.3MP webcam on the front.

We love the Eee Pad Transformer so naturally we can’t wait for the Eee Pad Slider to come out. Which do you prefer? Let us know by posting a comment below or on our Official Facebook Page!
