ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF300T Specifications Revealed

We’ve got more details on that mystery red ASUS tablet, the TF300T, for you lucky readers. A screenshot from one of ASUS’ internal systems has appeared online, leaking the technical specifications of the Transformer Prime’s little brother.

Polish website tabletowo obtained the spy snap, which shows the specifications for four different Transformer tablets from ASUS. We can make out the original Eee Pad Transformer (TF101), the Transformer Prime (TF201) and the forthcoming TF700T, leaving the third model in the chart to be the TF300T, the model that leaked earlier this month.

According to the specs sheet, the TF300T will fit the bill as an entry-level Transformer tablet of sorts, offering the same keyboard-docking ability, but slightly lower grade parts. It’ll still use the same Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia, though it will be clocked a little slower at 1.2GHz. The powerful processor will be backed up by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage – half that of the Transformer Prime TF201.

Dimensions are almost identical, although the TF300T is slightly chunkier at 9.9mm thick, compared to the 8.3mm profile of its bigger brother. Screen size will remain at 10.1-inches with the same resolution of 1280 x 800, though it’s going to be a regular IPS panel rather than the Super IPS variant, meaning a lower brightness output.

The rear camera is still an 8-Megapixel shooter with Full HD video capture capabilities, though the flash has been omitted, presumably to save money. Connectivity is all the same, and we’re hearing that the rear panel will be manufactured from plastic rather than aluminium, so as to avoid the GPS signal issues found in the TF201. The battery used in this model is unfortunately a little less powerful than the TF201, and so will produce 8.5 hours from the tablet itself, or 12.5 hours in total when combined with the keyboard dock.

Interestingly, the screenshot shows ASUS’ forthcoming Transformer Prime TF700T model as using a Dual-Core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.5GHz. This to us appears extremely suspicious, as when the company unveiled the new tab at CES earlier in the year, they made it clear it would be running Nvidia’s Quad-Core Tegra 3 chip, and at a higher clock speed than the regular Transformer Prime at that. Either this screenshot is bogus, or it was taken a while ago, before ASUS were able to confirm which processor would be used in the device.

The TF300T will hit the ground running with Android 4.0 on board, and although we don’t yet have a price for the device, we’d peg it at around £400 in the UK. What do you think?
