Asus MeMO Pad 10 leaks out – Fairly priced Android tab expected this month

  • by

It looks as though the recently revealed MeMO Pad 7 from Asus won’t be a lonely product, with leaked pictures showing Asus’ plans to launch a larger 10-inch model perhaps as early as next month.

The 7-inch model, announced last month, is designed to be a cheaper Nexus 7-alike. However, the 10-inch model looks set to replace the Transformer Pad 300 that Asus revealed this time last year at MWC 2012.

Comparing the two, we can see more than just a passing similarity. The design is much the same for both tablets, and the internal specifications are very similar too. According to tabletsmagazine.nl, who leaked the pictures, the MeMO Pad 10 will sport a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor (1.2GHz), 1GB of RAM and a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display.

Inside the tablet there will also be 16GB of external storage – expandable via a micro SD card slot – and both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. There’s a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera for video calls and a respectable 5-megapixel camera on the back, although no LED flash accompanies it.

Android Jelly Bean 4.1 is the operating system of choice for Asus’ new tablet, which we’re told will make its official debut later this month at MWC in Barcelona.

From the images we can tell that the MeMO Pad 10 will be a rather sleek and slim affair, with the edges looking to be sub-9mm in thickness – perhaps that’s wishful thinking on our part. There’s also dual stereo speakers cleverly placed either side of the tablet on the rear.

We’ve no word on prices or release dates yet as the MeMO Pad 10 isn’t official, although we’re expecting Asus to make an official announcement later in the month at MWC.
