At long last Asus had revealed when UK customers will be able to get their hands on the PadFone 2 that it revealed way back in October of last year.
The company launched the PadFone 2 at multiple global events on October 16th, alluding to the smartphone and tablet combo being a pretty big deal. Unfortunately we’ve not seen or heard much about it here in the UK since, but that’s set to change next month.
You’ll be able to pick up a PadFone 2 in the UK from March 1st, priced at £599 for the phone and tablet dock together. For your money you get a 32GB Android Jelly Bean smartphone and 10.1-inch tablet dock, which Asus likes to call the ‘Station’.
The phone itself boasts a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ display with a 720p HD resolution, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, 2GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash.
The ‘Station’ is an extension of the phone’s screen and battery, transferring the image from the phone’s screen onto a 10.1-inch tablet-sized display when you dock the phone into the cleverly designed slot on the back. It also has its own battery, which Asus says will boost the life of the phone by 3 times.
It’s unfortunate timing as Asus revealed a brand new PadFone just earlier today in the shape of the PadFone Infinity. The new model is pricier at £799 but you also get Full HD displays on both the phone and the tablet, not to mention much more power under the hood of the phone.
Still, considering the smartphone market as it is right now, the specs on offer from the PadFone 2 are still right up there with some of the best.
