Bang & Olufsen V1 TV Dangles From Your Ceiling While Being An Apple TV

[tab name=’News’]

Don’t fancy mounting your TV to the wall? You could always hang it from the ceiling.

What may seem like a crazy idea is the idea behind home cinema experts Bang and Olufsen’s new V1 high def TV. You can hang the pricey TV from your ceiling, or just mount it to the wall or stand it up normally, depending on where you want it in your room.

The V1 has screen technology from Samsung to provide a Full HD 1080p picture, while B&O’s own ICE Power speakers provide incredible sound quality to back it up. The company is so confident of the quality in its speakers that it says “You can use this to replace any speaker system you have in your house.”

Asides from sound quality and ceiling dangling, the V1 has another trick up its sleeve. In a way, it’s beaten Apple to launching the first ever Apple TV. The 32 and 40-inch models contain a specially designed slot on the back to accommodate the miniature Apple TV streaming box, which then connects via HDMI to the TV, and with a little Wi-Fi magic you’ll be streaming movies and TV shows in no time.

Even more impressively, the V1’s remote can control every aspect of the Apple TV, so you don’t need to worry about the slim silver remote that comes with Apple’s gadget, however nice it is.

The remote trickery doesn’t stop at the Apple TV either; with the TV connected to the web it can use specially designed software to download the required information to control almost any connected device using its own remote. You could plug in your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 and use the V1’s remote to control various aspects including media playback, which to us sounds awesome. The fewer remotes the better!

Now that we’ve built you up, we’re afraid the revelation of the price tag might just knock you back down – unless you’re pretty well off. The V1 range starts at £1,999 for the 32”, with the 40” model costing £2,500. Both are a pretty price, especially considering the recently released and mind-blowingly awesome Samsung ES8000 is £1,899 for a larger 46-inch model.

Are the audiophile-grade speakers, Apple TV slot and peripheral-controlling remote tricks worth the price tag? Let us know.
