High definition telly viewers can expect an exciting line-up of vivid new channels just in time for Christmas as the BBC prepares to launch four additional HD services from tomorrow (Tuesday 10th December.)
New channels available on HD services Sky HD and Virgin TV, YouView, Freeview HD and Freesat HD will include CBBC HD, CBeebies HD, BBC Three HD and BBC 4 HD with BBC News HD joining them in January. These channels will also be available on the BBC iPlayer platform and follow the successful launch of BBC One HD and BBC 2 HD in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland over the past 15 months.
The Beeb acknowledges that over 50% of the UK population is HD active and the launch of more BBC HD channels should come naturally, causing little fuss for most Sky TV and Virgin viewers. However, we’re being advised that Freeview and Freesat viewers may have to retune their boxes if the channels don’t appear in the list.
