Pop warbler Beyonce’s pregnancy has raised the tweets per second record on social micro-blog site Twitter.
The former Child of Destiny debuted her upcoming release at the MTV Video Music Awards last week before 12.4 million viewers, and within minutes the news spread across the social web, helping the newest collaboration with rapper Jay-Z become a big hit – with no less than 8,868 tweets counted online and from mobile apps in the following hours.
The top tweeting goal was recently smashed by the Japan lady’s football team besting the rest in the Women’s World Cup, with the final win over the United States sending the record up to 7,166 per-second. But this epic performance was still not enough to beat Beyonce’s bump.
Other high hitters include a surge of tweets in wake of the Japan disasters earlier this year, seeing 5,350 twitter followers commenting on the tragedies and 3,966 well-wishers using their 140-characters-or-less to bless the nuptials of Prince Wills and Kate Middleton in April.
