Bioshock Infinite is one of the finest games of the year – it would be the finest but The Last of Us has taken that post – and it’s looking set to get even better as Irrational Games, the creators of the shooter, has today announced three new DLC packs for the game.
The three packs consist of a multiplayer expansion with new maps, guns and gameplay modes called Clash In The Clouds and then (and more excitingly) a brand new two-part single player campaign called Burial At Sea.
The first of the DLC packs will be landing from today (July 30th) for people to download and will cost 400 MS points/£3.69 to download.
Clash In the Clouds is a wave based multiplayer add-on where gamers will have to fight their way through waves of increasingly tougher opponents, akin to Halo’s firefight mode and the Gears of War horde mode.
“Players will combine a diverse toolset of weapons, Vigors, gear, Tears and Sky-Lines in four new areas inspired by the classic BioShock Infinite environments,” a statement by Irrational Games said. “In addition, by completing all 60 Blue Ribbon challenges, players will unlock exclusives in the Columbian Archeological Society, gaining access to new Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, concept art and more.”
This is all very cool and such but the thing that has sparked our interest is the second part of the DLC announcement (or second and third parts!) which is a new single player campaign that brings us back to the characters in Bioshock Infinite (Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth), but this time you are playing along in the city of Rapture.
Yep that’s right; for the first time you get to play in Rapture, before it all went downhill!
You will once again be playing Booker DeWitt but this time minus the memory loss and other issues. In the new story he is booked into a case – he was a PI after all – by the mysterious beauty called Elizabeth.
This all takes place just as the civil war in Rapture is breaking out and as the video announcement shows, things are very different in pre-destroyed Rapture.

It. Looks. Amazing.
We must admit that anything BioShock related we love, but the chance to return to Rapture using some of Bioshock Infinite’s gameplay is especially exciting.
We currently have no release date for Burial At Sea but Irrational has said that both parts of the game will cost 1200 MS points/£9.99 each or free to anyone who bought BioShock Infinite’s Season Pass
