Confirmed: Black Samsung Galaxy SIII Will Hit UK in September

  • by

Last week we spotted a black version of the immensely popular Galaxy S3 on Samsung’s own Mobile Facebook page. The new colour hadn’t been officially announced, so why was Samsung teasing us? Was it real or just a mistake?

Fortunately it was real, as UK retailer MobileFun now has the phone on its site and available to pre-order. None other than Carphone Warehouse also have the phone in their inventory, giving further proof that the phone exists.

The new colour will join Pebble Blue and Marble White in the UK, and the exclusive Garnet Red colour in the US. We’re still not sure just what flashy word Samsung will stick before ‘black’ though, any suggestions? Perhaps ‘Midnight Black’.

The black model is a UK version of the handset, meaning that it will carry the same quad-core Exynos processor and 1GB of RAM, not the dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM that some US handsets have.

A black Galaxy SIII has been pictured no fewer than three times on Samsung’s official mobile Facebook page, flaunting its stuff at the London Olympic Games.

Samsung broke from the norm when it unveiled the Galaxy SIII, opting for Pebble Blue and Marble White as the two colour variants and dropping the standard black it’s used for several years now.

A ‘Garnet Red’ version has since launched via AT&T in the US, and Samsung has hinted that it’s looking into more colour variations for the near future. Those wanting to get something even more exclusive have the option of going for a limited edition Team GB Olympics model as well, but now a black model looks set to launch.

Out of the three images uploaded we have two which definitely look black, and one that looks like the existing Pebble Blue model, if you ask us. Nevertheless, it seems that Samsung has quietly snuck out a new colour of its latest superphone, without any information on when we’re going to see it in shops.

The 64GB version of the S3 has been delayed since its launch, leading us to believe that when it does land later this year, it will be available in black – perhaps the only black models will be the 64GB ones, who knows.

What do you think of the black version, better than Marble White and Pebble Blue?
