The BlackBerry World digital hub will soon be bolstered by music, TV shows and major name movies, with RIM revealing several major deals with film studios and record labels.
With just a few days to go until the official launch of BlackBerry 10 RIM hasn’t been able to help itself, letting a few more bits of information out to keep the hype building. The newly rebranded BlackBerry Store will contain “major catalogues” of digital content, says the Canadian company.
Deals have been done with a wide range of film studios and broadcasters, with major names already on-board including Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, the BBC, Warner and ITV.
With these deals in mind, RIM says it will be offering digital movie rentals and downloads on BlackBerry 10 devices the same day they come out on Blu-ray and DVD.
Video content isn’t the only thing BlackBerry 10 devices will be packing either. RIM is intent on offering a digital store that’s akin to the Play Store for Android, and so music downloads will also be available. Deals with Sony Music, Warner and Universal have all been revealed, with more said to come.
Video rentals will be available through the BlackBerry World store upon the launch of BlackBerry 10 on January 31st, with 18 countries down to have access to the feature from the get go, including the UK, US, Canada and France.
RIM will launch BlackBerry 10 and the Z10 all-touch phone globally on January 31st through several media events across the world. Stay tuned!
