Thanks to a specifications sheet posted by Staples in the US, we could be looking at an iPad-rivalling 10 hour battery life from the Blackberry Playbook.
Though the specifications for the device were announced back in September of last year, we weren’t ever given an expected battery life for the 5300 mAh battery that’s onboard. We suspect this was due to RIM wanting to tweak the hardware and QNX operating system before the final release, which could in theory increase or decrease the product’s battery life.
If the stated “10 hours continual use” battery life turns out to be accurate, we could be looking at a true contender to the iPad in the tablet market. So far the iPad and iPad 2 hold the longest battery life at 10 hours, with the Motorola Xoom providing “around 10 hours” and the Samsung Galaxy Tab (7 inch) which provides around 7 hours usage.
