High street and online retailer GAME has reported pre-orders of upcoming Activision title “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” will blow away the record set by predecessor “Call of Duty: Black Ops” before it’s official launch date of November 8th.
There’s still three months ahead of that date and at present GAME claim the new CoD title is already way ahead of 2010’s Black Ops shooter for Xbox 360 and PS3. Managing Director of the UK retail chain Tom Devine says “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders are already tracking significantly ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops at the same time last year”
“We know that the Call of Duty brand and franchise has the most amazing fan-base and we’ve got some great surprises lined up for those who pre-order with us. We’re looking forward to an incredible launch on 8th November” Devine adds.
And that “amazing fan-base” is also in for an explosive treat and set to grow with social network flavoured Call of Duty Elite, which will bring exclusive content, tips and guides as well as downloadable content and a rich social element. Elite is already doing the rounds as an invite-only Beta trial for Xbox 360.
