Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now on sale across the country in stores and online, on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Nintendo Wii.
Game developers Infinity Ward, Activision and Sledgehammer Games anticipate a record breaker from the new game, which has been highly anticipated since the last title in the series, Black Ops, was released at the same time last year.
Despite the official release date for the game being today (08/11), proceedings kicked off big style in London last night with a star-studded launch party followed by midnight openings across the nation. Rapper Example kicked things off with a brief talk about the game at Billingsgate Market in London, and later in the evening 574 Game and Gamestation stores across the UK opened at midnight to allow gamers a chance to get their hands on a copy of the game as early as possible.
Call of Duty: Black Ops currently holds the record for most money taken in the first 5 days of a computer game launch, with a staggering £405 million of revenue generated. However, the game’s developers are expecting that record to be smashed by the latest title, Modern Warfare 3, as pre-order numbers have already exceeded last year’s.
Modern Warfare 3 keeps that addictive mix of cinematic single player storylines with the fast-paced online multiplayer modes that gamers have come to love over the years, but adds in some new features, new weapons, new game modes and more.
We recently previewed the official multiplayer gameplay trailer which gave an insight into two new game modes; Kill Confirmed and Team Defender. A look at the new game in action just days ahead of the release really got gamers going, and now they can finally hop online and jump straight into the action.
