We know that to some people, £249 is too expensive for the entry level 5th generation iPod Touch. It seems Apple has recognised this and has just launched a new 16GB iPod Touch for £199.
When Apple launched the latest iPod Touch it ditched both the 8 and 16GB models which were previously very popular due to their lower price points, instead offering only 32 and 64GB models priced at £249 and £329 respectively.
However, the new 16GB iPod Touch isn’t just the same device with less storage space. It seems Apple couldn’t justify keeping exactly the same internal specifications at a price of £199, and so the rear camera and wrist strap are both gone. That’s right, the odd little interchangeable wrist strap is out and so is the 5 megapixel rear camera. You do however still get the 1.2 megapixel front facing camera for FaceTime calling.
The design is also identical, with that great 4-inch Retina display up front, Apple’s new EarPod headphones and the latest version of iOS to give you access to hundreds of thousands of apps, songs, TV shows and movies.
Unfortunately the 16GB model won’t be for those who like a splash of colour however, as Apple will only be selling it in black and white – just like the old days!
The 16GB iPod Touch is available online now and will be in Apple Stores soon.
