Remember the trusty old Casio G-Shock wristwatch you had in school? The big rubbery timepiece has been around since 1983 and was the hardcore watch which was immune to the biggest bump, had a stopwatch, a light display and was water resistant – but now we’re pleased to hear it’s received an awesome next-gen overhaul – complete with Bluetooth capability!
The 21st-century Casio G-Shock was just revealed in Switzerland and comes bearing Bluetooth 4.0, which features a low battery drain, meaning the ever-promised ten-year life of the timepiece suffers very little from the added tech upgrades. With Bluetooth on the G-Shock you’ll be able to receive notifications from your mobile about incoming calls and messages as well as enjoying all the benefits of one of the most durable watches ever built.
A Casio designer reveals “We use a mix of plastic resin and steel and to achieve the strength. Solar panels help to recharge the battery so you won’t have to replace it, which also helps it to be more waterproof because you do not need to open it.”
The faithful wrist gadget is back just as we remember and full of new goodies. With the nostalgia factor combined with a high tech reboot, the new Casio G-Shock watch is sure to please old fans and new generations when it hits stores at some point in 2012!
