Reports suggest that cult sci-fi series Heroes will soon be resurrected as an X-Box based show after ending on our television screens just over 3 years ago.
New super-powered episodes set in the familiar Heroes universe – but featuring all new characters – will be unleashed as part of Microsoft’s original programming under its Xbox Entertainment Studios brand which was launched in February with the intent of ‘pioneering’ the future of television.
The new Heroes series which will be available through the entertainment portion of Xbox LIVE is said to start a brand new stand-alone series as well as feature references to tie it in to the original four seasons which ran from September 2006 to February 2010 on its first airing on NBC in the States and BBC in the UK. Familiar events and potential characters cameos are believed to be possible offering plenty for new and returning fans alike.
Heroes was a unique TV show which put a ‘real-life’ spin on comic-style superheroes and drew millions of viewers on a weekly basis for four years. The show’s original creators encouraged true believers to delve deeper into the world of Heroes with several web-based series featuring three to four short episodes including characters from the TV show and a spin-off called ‘Going Postal’.
With web-based series now rising as a proven and legitimate entertainment trend with companies such as Netflix and Amazon creating their own legitimate and original television shows such as Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove and the series based on zom-com movie Zombieland we think a familiar and strongly supported favourite like Heroes could also find a great following as a digital series.
