Cyanogen Mod CM7 is one of the most popular custom Gingerbread rom’s available on over 60 different Android Devices. CM7 War particularly a Gingerbread based Rom and CM8 was reserved for Android Honeycomb when the sources were released.
But the Cyanogen Mod Team is skipping CM8 as Google have only just released the Honeycomb sources along side the newest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).
The build based on ICS is going to be called CM9 and Cyanogen Mod are looking at updating the builds of all 60 of their supported handsets to CM9 in the next two months, this is along side bringing the Build to some new devices at the same time.
One such device is going to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Samsung galaxy devices are some of the biggest sellers in the mobile world and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is no different, as far as Tablets go it is one of the bets, and with Cyanogen bringing some ICS love to the tablet (more than likely before Samsung) it is something that will help the popularity of the slate.
Steve “Cyanogen” Kondik posted on his Google+ page that “ICS on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is pretty great. Coming soon to a CM mirror near you :)” this makes us believe that the Samsung device has already had some dry runs of running CM9, and it looks like they have been pretty successful.
