Dell has got another Android tablet on the way, this time their biggest one yet: The 10.1-inch Dell Streak Pro. After the poor success of the 5-inch Streak and the more recent Streak 7, it seems Dell is now angling for the iPad’s crown with a full sized tablet.
Dutch website Tweakers has uncovered pictures and a hefty chunk of the specifications sheet for the Streak Pro, and the specs confirm it will indeed be an Android Honeycomb tablet. As with most other Honeycomb tablets, the Streak Pro will use the 1GHz Dual Core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The usual connectivity suspects are onboard; Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G and possibly even 4G/LTE support for US networks.
The dimensions of the Pro are 261 x 176.4 x 12.9mm and 720g in weight, putting it in the same bracket of size and weight as the Motorola Xoom. It’s heftier than the iPad but 10g off the Motorola Xoom. There’s the usual front and rear camera setup, front being 2MP and the rear 5MP. Dual microphones are packed in to compliment both cameras, and there’s also going to be a choice of 16, 32 and 64GB storage variants, a la iPad.
A rather middle of the road 1280 x 800 res is output by the 10.1-inch screen, of which we have no further details on which type of panel it is. The back panel of the casing is brushed aluminium, presumably in the style of the original Streak’s case. Not content with leaking the internal specs of the Streak Pro, Tweakers has confirmed the Streak Pro will have a media dock, in-car charging adaptor, productivity dock, folding cover with integrated keyboard and a choice of black, pink, blue and red skins.
Have Dell finally got it right with a 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet, or is it too late? Let us know your thoughts on the Dell Streak Pro by leaving a comment, or via Twitter.
