By now it seems almost certain that Samsung will launch a Galaxy S4 Mini at some point this year, but in case you were in any doubt at all, the handset’s existence has been leaked through none other than Samsung’s own website.
UAPROF (User Agent Profile) files for the phone have surfaced on Samsung’s website, giving the game away ahead of an official launch, whenever that may be. These files tell us the phone’s model number – GT-I9190 – and its screen size – 4.3-inches – amongst other details.
Two versions of the S4 Mini look set to launch; one with a single SIM slot and the other with a dual-SIM function, which is likely to be designed for the Asian markets. Both will come in the same Black Mist and White Frost colours as the full-size Galaxy S4.
The 4.3-inch display will be of the qHD variety, which equates to a 960 x 540 resolution. This should be pretty sharp, although is nowhere near the leagues of the S4 and its Full HD display and 1920 and 1080 resolution.
The single-SIM version of the phone will feature a quad-core Exynos processor whereas the dual-SIM model will run a dual-core processor. There will also be a 4G LTE version of the phone available, model number GT-I9195, although the processor choice for this is unknown. Although not yet confirmed, we wouldn’t mind betting that UK network EE will score a UK exclusive on this speedy variant.

As with the S4, the Mini will run on the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system along with Samsung’s newest TouchWiz Nature UX interface. A host of Samsung’s new features will also be present, including S Translator, S Health and new camera functions. Speaking of cameras, an 8 megapixel snapper will be on the back of the Mini, which is an upgrade from the S3 Mini but not quite as sharp as the S4’s 13 megapixel shooter.
There’s still no confirmation of a release date or price estimate, although we have heard previous rumours of a June/July event. Stay tuned for all the updates on Samsung’s mini-me as we get it.
