If like us you still don’t have a clue what to do for Halloween why not bring your creepy costume into the smartphone age with one of these awesome optical illusion T-shirts. They’re dead good!
Long-time Gadget Helpline readers may remember an article we published back at Halloween 2011 which featured a fellow named Mark Rober who had created the illusion he’d been impaled by strapping two iPads to his body underneath a blood soaked T-shirt.

Well the very same person, an ex-NASA engineer turned innovative costume designer, is behind Digital Dudz – a company which produces an ever-growing range of T-shirts and masks which combine clothing and costuming with digital technology to create some neat and nasty tricks which are a treat to see in action!
Each T-shirt features a creepy character staring out of the fabric but behind the eye is a pocket just big enough to hold most current smartphones. The magic happens when you install the free Digital Dudz app for Android and iOS to playback a looping video of a rolling eye, pulsing maggots or other grotesque effects. Popping the phone in the T-shirt pocket creates the stunning and scary illusion that your T-shirt is actually alive!
The horrifying latex masks work in the same way and feature incredible details with a discrete smartphone pocket which is worn in front of the wearers own eye, creating a believable false eye effect and if you’re not into the scares there are a number of superhero themed Digital Dudz including Captain America with moving eyes and Iron Man’s ARC Reactor. There’s also some crazy Christmas sweaters of offer too which allow you to wear a blazing fireplace on your chest this festive season!
We’ve spotted a selection of the T-shirts in Asda for £10 including Frankenstein’s Monster and Cyclops. Grab ‘em while you can!
