Coverage isn’t the only thing EE is expanding; new tablet devices have now been added to their line-up, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE and the Google Nexus 7.
Google Nexus 7? With LTE? We hear you, we hear you. The tablet itself doesn’t have any way of connecting to EE’s 4G network on its own, but it’s proved so popular that EE has decided to sell it alongside one of their mobile hotspots.
Customers can take out the Nexus 7 on a contract and the Huawei E589 mobile hotspot will come with it. This device takes an EE SIM, picks up a 4G signal and shares it with the Nexus 7 – and other devices – as if it was a regular Wi-Fi network. Of course, if you don’t have 4G in your area then you can pick up the 3G version of the Nexus 7 directly from Google itself.
The Nexus 7 can be taken on a 24 month contract with either 8GB, 5GB or 3GB of data per month. The upfront cost of the tablet ranges from £29.99 to £49.99 with monthly tariffs of £35.99, £30.99 and £25.99 respectively.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 however is the real deal, coming with 4G LTE connectivity inside. Rather than using a mobile hotspot you’ll be able to insert an EE SIM into the tablet and connect on the go. The tablet features Samsung’s S Pen stylus for annotating images and making notes, along with Android 4.1 and a host of clever apps from Samsung.
The Note 10.1 is available on three different 24 month contracts, depending on how much data you plan on using each month. With 8GB of data the tablet costs £99 up front and £35.99 per month, which drops to £30.99 per month and £199 up front for the 5GB plan. If you’re a low data user then you can opt for 3GB per month, paying £249.99 up front for the tablet and £25.99 per month.
EE will be expanding its 4G coverage to 17 new towns and cities by March 2013. Both devices are available from EE stores right now.
