Calling all Apple Mac users out there, if you’ve been thinking about getting some additional storage for your Mac and money is no object, you may be interested in the new SSD hard drives announced by Elgato.
Perhaps you require a super-fast way of performing a system backup or need to transfer large files quickly to take with you on the go. If that’s the case, the new Elgato Thunderbolt SSD drives may be right up your street. The company have just unveiled two new drives, one is a 120GB model and the other is 240GB and to ensure you get the best data transfer rates possible the drives only feature Thunderbolt as the method of connecting it to your Mac.
The drive is designed to have a minimal look, therefore it has a smooth looking low profile appearance with no power button or flashy lights on the front. Simply plug in and play.
When tested, the drives were capable of transfers at 250MB a second on a 15in 2.2Ghz i7 MacBook. So if this sounds like the drive you’ve been waiting for, the 120GB model will cost $430 (around £275). Or, if that’s not enough space you can pick up the 240GB one for $700 (around £450).
