This a forewarning..
Sony’s Playstation Network, or PSN, will be down on Thursday the 26th of July 2012 for 16 hours in Europe.
There, we told you so please don’t freak out. We are not having a repeat of last summer’s PSN hacking debacle, this time it’s just a scheduled maintenance for the PSN to help stop such attack on the network.
Sony announced that the PSN is set to go offline on in Europe tomorrow from 4PM GMT tomorrow through to 8AM Friday the 27th of July.
The maintenance work will pull the PlayStation Store and account management and registration offline during this time, but the good news is that anyone looking to play online can still do so, but you will need to have signed into your PSN account before the maintenance starts.
So if you have an auto sign-out set on your PS3 or PS Vita device you may want to change the settings for the next few days to ensure you can still get online.
To do this: Select “PlayStation®Network” > “Account Management” > “Auto Sign-In On” and log into your account.
Additionally during the outage Sony states you can continue to collect in-game trophies and these will be updated on your profile once PlayStation Network is back up and running.
Sony has not stated what the updates are for but the information will be posted once the maintenance has completed.
