The hugely popular Facebook for iPhone (and iPod Touch) App has been updated to version 3.4, bringing with it some nifty new features.
Facebook have added a Map View for the “Places” feature of the app, which works like Google Latitude. You can see where your friends have checked in on a Google Map style screen by tapping the new “Map” option in the bottom right corner of the screen.
The Notifications UI has been overhauled; profile image thumbnails next to each notification are much larger, as is the notification text bar itself. Much easier to tap accurately, especially when you’ve just woken up!
Other smaller changes include the ability to “Check in” to an event using Facebook Places – just in case your friends didn’t already know you were at the party. You’ll now also be able to ‘unfriend’ somebody from the Facebook App itself, something until now you haven’t been able to do on any of the Facebook Mobile Apps.
You can update the Facebook for iPhone app now through the App Store, or download it for free if you don’t have it yet.
