Internet giants Facebook and Spotify have reportedly agreed on a deal which will bring Spotify’s music streaming service to the Social Network.
The information comes from Forbes, who also claims that the deal has been done without the exchanging of any money from both parties.
It’s no secret that Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg is a massive fan of Spotify, and he’s wanted to get some sort of music integration with Facebook for a while now. Forbes report that the partnership will result in Spotify becoming an ‘app’ on Facebook (in countries where Spotify is supported), appearing as an icon to the left hand side of the Facebook page layout.
The Zuck has recently talked up music with social networking, saying “Listening to music is something people do with their friends. Movies, TV, news, books – those types of things are things I think people just naturally do with their friends” at the recent e-G8 summit in France.
“I hope we can play a part in enabling those new companies to get built, and companies that are out there producing this great content to become more social” he went on to add.
Spotify already has some Facebook integration, such as the “Share to Facebook” feature. If Facebook could create a full Spotify portal within the social networking site, it could be something truly great.
